4 Problems, exhaust rattle, jittery brakes etc.
« on: 23 December 2009, 17:16:13 »

My Omega 2.6 MV6 seems to be having a few issues.

1) Exhaust rattle at certain engine revs
2) Funny smell from the engine (Like burning)
3) Jittery brakes - when pressed quite hard
4) Power steering loss at unrelated times.

If anyone can give me some insight into any of these problems It would be greatly appreciated. I am pretty cluesless about engines with cars.

1) could be heat shields
2) could be camcover gaskets leaking oil
3) could be warped front discs
4) could be tired steering pump/low fluid

Item one . If it is the heat shields then have a look under the car at the downpipes (which is where the cats are). There is a heat shield around them tack weled in place. They come loose. A simple fix is to tighten a large jubilee clip round them
