Facelift Spoiler!
« on: 06 January 2010, 18:10:24 »

Ha! Got your attention!

Sorry, not got one for sale, I may be going to view a breaker in a few days time, and wondered how the spoiler comes off. The guys saying it seems 'stuck to the bootlid' (what did he expect, I wonder?) anyway, just wondered exactly how they come off. Can I assume that theres some stickyfoam pads and some nuts to come off inside the bootlid?

Id just like to know before I get there and find I dont have the necessary tools to get the thing off. I'll gladly resort to chewing a facelift spoiler off, trust me!

All help, as ever greatly appreciated.

With difficulty, could try heating it up and using a cheese wire....

They have a bead of silkoflex or similar all around

Yes, suspected the cheesewire would be necessary. Just didnt know if there were nuts to remove from the threads. Got an old Cavalier SRi spoiler, which is held on with threads.

it will be help on with some kind of adhesive, but may have a few 8mm nuts also, take off the boot lid cover on the inside and you should see them, heat up where the adhesive with hairdryer or heat gun and slowly eas it away with a flat spatula and it should come off.

They are held on with just adhesive on the facelift and I find the best way to get them off is a hammer and chisel. If you chisel the boot lid around the spoiler not under it to put dents in the boot lid it breaks the seal and the spoiler comes off intact. Done a few now ;)
