smell inside car when screen blower on like oil/ta
« on: 15 January 2010, 14:55:44 »

when i turn the front screen blower on when the car has warmed up i can smell oil/tar , i then noticed under where i park the car a small patch of water/oil that had a beige colour . when i checked the oil dip stick i looks ok as well as the coolant level.on checking the oil cap there is what looks like beige sludge.the car appears to drive ok although i have not driven far as i only bought it in november .
please advise me on what to do and probable cost if a good garage looks at it
thanks mike

I'd check the cam covers for any leaks  :y

I have the same mine is just an oil leak from cam covers but the oil I think is emulsifing? when it hit the cold frozen ground, had same colour as you during the last week, but back to black now!

if it is the cam cover oil seals. you need the seals, a tube of the sealant ~(vx stuff) more time and  tools than difficult. take care not to overtighten as the covers are plastic.
