Unplugging pretensioners.
« on: 24 January 2010, 23:44:48 »

I am planning on taking the interior out of my Omega tomorrow to to replace it with a leather one.
When I unplug the wiring for the pretensioners is it the same routine as removing the steering wheel ? - ie disconnect the battery and leave for half an hour ?
I may need some wiring advice for the new seats as well as they have additions like  airbags and possibly memory ?? my old seats just had a button for up/down adjustment, so I will have to have a look and see what is required to hopefully get the new ones working as intended, hopefully. :-/ :-/ :-/

Not too worried about wiring them tbh (although it would be nice to have everything working) as long as it doesnt mean a warning light will be lit.

Should be OK fitting seats with side airbags into a car without the wiring... It's the other way round there can be issues

Disconnect batt 10mins before. Perfect time for cuppa/fag.

Side airbags won't work.

Memory seats, just need to proved 12v to them (you won't get mirror memory), which is present at the exisiting connector.

My existing seats only have2 connectors to them. One for the pretensioner and one for the up/down motor, So presumably I need the loom which goes from the seats to the main wiring loom. Hopefully the main loom will have the connectors for the seat wiring to plug into, otherwise Im stuffed. Next problem will be what to do about the old pretensioner connector which went to the old seats. Possibly join the 2 wires to each other to complete the circuit and therefore prevent the airbag light from coming on ? :-/

So I could maybe make a loom taking power from the existing connectors ?
The problem I see with that is the new seats have 4 (or 5 ? cant remember) block connectors and given my knowledge of electrickery means I will likely set fire to the car . ::) :-[
