Stainless exhaust or not...
« on: 01 February 2010, 15:02:15 »

My middle box is blowing and the back box is showing age on my 3.2, so I've been looking for a stainless system to replace. The qoutes I'm getting are around the £350 mark. Who has a stainless system on their omega? Whats your opinion on brands/price? etc etc I don't want a loud exhaust, just a good brand thats going to last.

I had a Longlife cat back system fitted to my 2.6 in December, it was around the price you mention.

It's not noisy, but it's not as quiet as the original, I can hear it under load.

at the end of the day, it just depends on how much money you want too spend / how lon you are going to keep the car  :y

..just about to get a Longlife system fitted tomorrow (2nd Feb) - £389 cat back - twin exit tail pipes - they are paying the VAT apparently.
I get the impression that it's effectively custom tuned to your requirements - as loud or quiet as you want to specify as they'll run through the choices tomorrow with me. Just because I could - I've specified 3" twin polished stainless slash cut tips. I too don't want it to rattle the windows - but it'll be nice to get a bit of a bark or burble to suit the mood.
Obviously not the cheapest - hopefully I'll never need to replace it while I've got the car - and assuming a lump of our country's finest wildlife doesn't write this one off for me as well  >:(- I'll be chuffed. I'll let you know how the experience goes tomorrow - I'm quite looking forward to it  :).

Cheers
Ian

I have a Longlife stainless steel one on mine (the 3.2) and though it is slightly noisier than the genuine GM (the original one, not the cheap rubbish they sell now) it's still respectably quiet.

Longlife will build the exhaust to your requirements so you can have quiet (close to standard) or any sound level upwards.

Get some pics or video up if you can please.
