Omega 2 litre - fast idle problem
« on: 05 February 2010, 15:57:06 »

Scenario
======
Engine starts fine from cold or hot.
Engine idles (hunts) between 900rpm and 2100rpm and then eventually calms down to idle at 900rpm.

When driving, the engine runs away with itself as if the throttle is stuck. The idle when stationary then hunts again but calms down after about 4 or 5 times of hunting.

I'm not mechanically minded although could probably tackle minor jobs. If anyone is located near Halstead Essex, or Sudbury Suffolk, I'd appreciate some help because so far, my local garage hasn't found a cure and I can't carry on paying £70 an hour for them to research the problem.

Thanks in anticipation  :D

I do believe the ICV has already been cleaned.

I am fairly sure that it will be the idle control valve too, you might as well give the throttle body and breathers a clean while your on.

Could be a faulty ICV. Do you know anybody with one that is known to be good that you could try?

An ICV has been installed and it's not made any difference so the old one was put back.

I'm not sure I know what I'm looking for when people make suggestions.

If someone local could pop round, now that would help. I'll cover their petrol costs.
