swopping a vectra engine

Hi has anyone ever changed a vectra engine as i need to take a old 2.0 engine and put in a new engine as the engine thats init cambelt snapped.Is it hard to do or easy

engines are same justneed to change the fly wheel. :y

No what i mean is is it easy to take the engine out of the car as someone said i have to take the sub frame off

what you mean drop it or lift it, drop yes lift no. take bonnet off. pop the drive shafts, undo thegear box bolts and exhaust, undo the engine mounts, pull cam side off the mount and lift from off centre  about 5-6 inches off mounts remove all the wires off the plugs  then lift out, done. :y

Wouldn't it be easier and cheaper just to get another head and cambelt kit?

yes i was thinking that but im just thinking if there is piston damage

Doubt there will be piston damage, valves usually give way before any damage to pistons. Take off the head and check then take it from there would be my advice.

I concurr, very rare a failed timing belt will take a pot, the valve stems give first.

Ok thanks guys i will do that.If the head is know good then thats ok as i have the one from my mig thats in good nick just needs a good clean :y
