Further to my last post....
It never rains but pours.
Took car out for a spin today.
Engine Electronics warning light came up immediately as I was sitting at a red light, and again later in the afternoon, after I had just pulled away from the kerb after being parked up for a few hours it came on again. Both times it went out after driving a few hundred yards.
I've noticed this happens when temps dip outside because of the snow and very cold weather.
The temp outside was 2 degrees.
Snow was falling heavily.
Temp inside the car had to be lower because only cold air is still being blown into the cab.
Checked new radiator...all hoses are hot...no airlocks this time because I followed everything step by step to prevent airlocks with the help of good advice from others on here.
Brand new coolant in system...proper amount also.
50:50 mixture...3 ltres of coolant to 3 litres of water...full coolant into the system first, burped the two big main hoses...expansion bottle emptied straight away...more coolant til all 3 ltrs was in and then filled the system with water and this to the top of the expansion bottle...and engine running on idle with heaters on full and two hoses being burped continously until all pipes became hot....NO leaks anywhere.
Temp gauge showed only 85 when driving...could this be becuase of the very cold conditions today?
If I let the engine park up and idle with heaters on full, the temp gauge will slowly rise to 95 before the fan comes on and the temp returns to 92
If I turn the heater blowers off and let engine idle, the engine will of course heat up faster and the fan comes on once more at 95 and the temp returns to 92.
What is wrong...have I missed something?
I was not able to disconnect the heater matrix hoses under the bulkhead because of the narrow gap leading to them and my hand wouldnt budge them.
Heater matrix pipes must be blocked and do need flushed out. But I still can't remove the two hoses.
Of the two hoses, the top one is hot and the bottom one is luke warm.
Is there a tool I can buy to do that job?
If they do get flushed out, do you think the heat will then flow through into the cab and temp gauge will work properly and fan come on at 90?
What am I doing wrong? Please help, it's not enjoyable driving anymore and MOT is in four weeks.
