Oil Leak at front under oil switch
« on: 23 February 2010, 08:04:57 »

Hi all me again with this damn oli leak i have had oil leak under oil pressure swich for some time i thought the culprit was same but after changing it several times and even having to have it helicoiled i still get the leak i have tried every brass copper ally washer i can think of i have now got a leather washer on it and still there is oil there the switch at tick over even for an hour is perfectly dry soon as i take the car out and park up there is oil under switch i have had breathers done twice new vx cam gaskets the crank seal all to no avail i thought could it be cam seals but i have been told on here i might add that its a very rare thing for the cam shaft seals to leak .I love the car to bits the best runner i have ever had but the oil leak is destroying my confidence Please Please can someone shed any light on where it may be coming from or even Fix it for me ill travel a reasonable distance and pay the going rate its just driving me mad seeing the front of the sump lashed in oil. The Mechanic i use says cam belt will have to come off but asnt got the kit and he said it might not be cam shaft seals so it will be money thrown away so he didnt say it in words but got the impression he didnt want the job as he said the cam cover gaskets was a right Pia
thanks all
Robert

I guess I could have a look for you at some point.....it might be a double trip though as I would want to work out the cause and then carry out a fix and the fix may require getting parts etc

Out of interest, who did the crank seal and did they turn the bush around on the end of the crank?
