air filter pipe

hi  all
 ive just bought a piece of metal to fit in the air flow pipe to decrease petrol compsumpion   from ebay

 has anyone else tried this and DOES IT WORK or have i wasted my money ? also how would  it effect all the sensors near said pipe ?  have a 2.5 cdx 2000 plate  drinks fuel like nothing ive known before     nice car but thirsty ?

You've been done.

Such things may work briefly (and enrich mixture), but the engine managament will soon notice its overfuelling, and trim it back.

motorway           appox 34

 thinking i jumped in the wrong end of the pool with the 2.5

 may now look at swapping for a facelifted 2.0 to save money ?
             thanks for replies      maybe i should have asked first instead of buying the fuel saver first ?  never mind

Won`t get much more urban with a 2.0/2.2 & only slightly better motorway

As RobG says, the 4 pots still have more or less the same weightto lug around.
Your V6 consumption doesn't sound too bad to me. My 3.0 normally sits at the very low 20's mpg
