my rad was leaking in jan so bought a second hand one off fleabay and put it in today the bottom banjo is leaking atf when car is running i put a new copper seal but thts not stopped it anyone got any suggestions of what to do next?or has anyone got a rad for sale!! its on a 2.5 tracter with ac 1997 plate

try a bit of liquid metal, or liquid plastic, liquid metal is hard when dry, and plastic flexes,.. used before and works ok even used it on leaking rad in house.

Check the bolt isnt cross threaded, I seem to remember it happened to me during on of my Rad. changes. Strange, as iirc its quite a coarse thread, but it did happen.

Really difficult to tell without seeing it. You say you've replaced one copper washer? There should be a copper washer either side of each banjo fitting. I would think it'll be unlikely to be the rad itself - you'd lose water - more to do with the hoses going to & from it.

ive put one either side yes and it did up hand tight to begin with so dont think its threaded will try changing copper washers again see if it helps,as the atf has leaked is it worth changing and checking it just incase?

Hi m8,
Banjo type unions have 2 copper (usual) or Dowty (modified) seals either side of the banjo itself.
If the copper washers do not do the trick get along to a hydraulic pipe maker/supplier and get a couple of Dowty washers. They look like a normal thick washer but have a seal on the inner part.
Should be ok after that provided that they are not cross threaded and are torqued correctly.
Do yourself a favour and forget the bodge type of repairs, they will not last! Apart from that the correct bits will be cheaper than the bodge! Bodge - daft idea.

There is the possibility that the 4 copper sealing-washers have become work-hardened or scratched; carefully anneal the originals or replace them.
If you have the Dowty washers variant (which have rubber inserts) then the annealing option wouldn`t be there.
Beware of over-tightening; the oil-water intercooler is a copper unit in a plastic tank and surely will not stand up to much excess-torque on the connections.....soft copper on clean steel should give a good seal at the correct torque.

cheers all!!i have fixed it with new washers but the problem was the banjo joint being damaged previously so i filed it down enough and now seems ok but thin i will have to get a new one!but where from??dealer part or does anyone have a spare?cant put it on wanted as ive not enough posts!
