Well next dry weekend day I'm going to do the petrol filter just in case.

Then see if anyone local has a good MAF to try.

I know of one member with a 3.2  VXL V6 - I have his DVD to return :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

Still tempted to change as I cannot afford to change car until my daughter leaves school (5 years to go)

K&N but not heavily oiled - however it has been in for over 4 years and washed regularly. Only had the original fail last year.

Air filter was in 2.0 as well - no MAF issues.

Old 2.6 MAF was not oily either.

Will clean Air Filter this weekend and also the fuel filter after I have done the brakes

Preliminary check for a dodgy MAF would be;
* with ignition off disconnect wiring to MAF. Start engine whilst disconnected and if it idles better than before its more than likely the MAF. However, also,
*Check all air hoses between air fliter and throttle body for splits/tight connections. Unmetered air entring the throttle after the MAF can give the same symptoms as a fubar MAF.
* Check air filer is clean
* Check all vaccuum pipes for leaks.
Symptoms of a fubar MAF include hard starting,stalling, hesitation when accelerating, rough idle,surging, and increased fuel consumption, among others, but they're the ones you'll probably notice first. :y

I have had a Ebay airflow meter company one on mine since last summer and it is still working. The car doesn't run well but in my case I think it is some other as yet undiscovered issue.

The new MAF cured instantly the stalling at junctions problem
