clicking steering wheel?
« on: 20 March 2010, 10:28:47 »

My car was absolutely fine until last night! When i went to pull out of a parking space my steering wheel started clicking as i was turning (both directions) it seemed to get a bit better on the drive home and my steering felt fine, any ideas and would you say this is safe to drive???

Does it sound like the clicking is coming from the wheel area or lower down the steering column? Thinking maybe clockspring?

I agree.  Sometimes a piece of plastic breaks off from the clockspring and gets stuck causing a plasticy clicking noise.  Easy to find by removing the airbag and steering wheel.  The broken piece of plastic floating around there somewhere.

Plenty of willing here ;) Where abouts are you? I'm sure someone local could roll a glass eye over just to make sure it wasn't anything serious.
