aircon blower position
« on: 22 March 2010, 17:42:16 »

Hi I am trying to sort out a slight squeak that come from the aircon system. The sound is from the passenger foot well which i think is where the blower is ?? It is making the noise even before the  blower cuts in when the engine is not yet at operating temperature.  The noise does 'stop' if I hit the Aircon  'Off' button.  When the blower cut in  'full blow' when operating temp is reached the squeal doesn't seem to change pitch or intensity ,  So  is there more than one fan or blower in the system , What could the sqeal be coming from if it is not the blower ? This is on an 03  model . Cheers , any thoughts much appreciated .

Blower motor is up under the glove box. Remove glove box and clean out blower motor and a bit of wd40 should hopefully remedy the squeak.
It will be running at very low speed from startup anyway.
Also try the blower from individual vents. If it's not the actual blower motor you can narrow it down, but if it's coming from passenger footwell, more than likely blower motor.
