i too found the hardest bit seperating the pipe from the stat housing. it was caked in bloody sealant. are you meant to put sealant there?

No way would my 'stat & transfer pipe separate in situ. I ended up hacking the end of the 'stat off to save my transfer pipe. I then sawed through the remnants of the stat in the vice. I knew I should've bought a transfer pipe when I bought the 'stat.  ;)

I had a new stat complete in its housing, Vauxhall was shut & I wanted to do the job.  :y Hence the windy recip saw was called into action.  :y

I always have a spare transfer pipe to hand when replacing the stat. Poxy thing.


And yes, new stat needed. :)
