Interior Blowers
« on: 12 April 2010, 21:28:40 »

Hi all,

A quick question of something to check - I have a '99 2.5 CD TD (BMW) and I'm having a couple of issues with the blowers inside the car.

No matter what I change the redirection to (feet/face/screen/screen) it will only blow air to the bottom of the windscreen. If I change it to feet for example (hot or cold) I hear a little sound behind the dash like air is escaping somewhere and I get nothing at all out of the vents above the radio, or the front passenger/driver vents. I only get air out of the tiny holes pointed at the windows and along the windscreen.

However, heat bellows out of the back two behind the centre console when set - so the air is getting to the back.

Just incase it's worth mentioning, the car had air-con but the compressor was removed by the previous owner and was never replaced (no idea why) but just incase it has anything to do with it.

Is there anything anyone can advise I check?

I am guessing its a manual direction control (non climate) and you probably have a vac hose off behind the direction control dial.....have you removed the radio recently

Yeah sorry - manual.

Radio has been out over Christmas, half the dash was taken to bits to fix the fuse 15 blowing constantly (appeared to be a short in a bulb backligting one of the heaters - replaced and all good)

Are they easy to spot?
