2.5 td starter motor

The starter on my 2.5td manual is playing up, is the bmw version the same fitment?

 i was led to believe the s/h one that i fitted last year was off a bmw. so i would say yes :y

I had mine reconditioned, it only cost about £50 ;)

I may still have one in garage. Then again, I may have taken to York meet and given away. I'll check.

I have found a thick red wire near the starter motor that is part of the loom that comes down under the inlet manifold. I can see the small wire that goes to the solenoid. The starter motor appears to have 2 13mm nuts on it, the top one looks like a battery feed, is the bottom one likely to be where this wire should be connected?
The starter plays up when cold, but is ok when the car is warmed up.

I've got a starter motor - been off the car a while, but was in perfect working order.  PM me if you're interested.

I don't really recall  :-[.  I remember constantly tripping over that log whilst doing the quiz, so I blame it on concussion, and nought to do with bob.dent's bad influence....  ::)

Aye, he filled my digestive system with a few of those fine pork steaks of his ......
Six months later and I'm gall bladder-less :D

Well in typical style i have fixed the car by buying another car!
Its an omega td estate auto, so lets see how long the box lasts when i put my chip on it!
