What LSD will fit?
« on: 01 May 2010, 20:58:34 »

Heey I've a V reg Omega, brought it back to Ireland from UK few weeks ago.
It's a 2.0 GLS Omega B, 2.0 ecotec.
I've heard that LSD won't fit my omega, some others say that it will. I've heard the police 3.0 lsd wont fit and that the 3.2 lsd would.
Said I'd ask here to get a proper answer. So can anyone help me out? :D

sure 3.0/3.2's diffs are basically the same  :-/

They connect to the gearbox, so it does not matter what engine is on the other end  :-/

I think I recall something about the propshaft flange being different on the 2.0?  :-/

It might well be possible to swap it over, taking care not to upset the backlash - or swap the propshaft too.

Then it's just down to the ratio, which may or may not suit the 4 pot. You might find it ends up a little higher geared, depending on what diff is currently fitted.

Would have thought it was down to final drive ratio.

Look at the brochure on ABS and it tells you all grear box and final drive ratio's.

Smaller propshaft donuts on the 4 pot Carltons, so GM could well have carried it over to Omega. :y

Question - would an LSD fitted to a 2.0 litre make that much difference to the way you drive it?

my first thought, why fit to a 4 pot? doesnt have abs iether.

...and presumably an lsd from a manual would give differant ratio to one from an auto...?
