Tuning Tweeks
« on: 02 May 2010, 07:30:12 »

I have noticed sevral people asking about tuning mods.
In general I agree, keep it as it is and well serviced/tuned.
BUT I owned a Hyundai Coupe 2.7 v6 before and in an attempt to improve economy I fitted two items;
ECOtek Valve and AIS SEnsor Chip. Both with significant improvements in Economy and Performance  8-)
EcoTeks are normally £45+ but got one off EBay for £10! AIS Sensors (Air Intake Sensor) from as little as £6.
ECOtek fits between Brake Servo and Inlet Manifold and draws in extra air and is supposed to improve air flow and economy. The AIS changes the temp signal reading of incoming air cooler by 2 degrees. I found I was getting up to 5 mpg+ even more on a run, and the responsiveness of the engine was much better.
Gonna' try them on my 2000 2.0 16v Auto CDX MIG and report back on the results, but If I get the same improvements, I would be delighted.
Anyone on the Forum had any previous experiences?
Poor side effects, No improvements, deterioration etc....

The artificial ar leak will screw up the fuel metering as the weak mixture will be confused with the MAF signals.

As to air temperature confusing - no idea what that would break.

The ECU will learn around it, and compensate, going back to original characteristics.

If it worked, GM would fit as standard ;)
