have a vacum come of at the end where the brake servo is comes round the back of the engine to the front on to a little drum shaped plastic thing with two pipes on can some on tell me what it is for, engine runs o.k. with out pipe has been taped up before i got car, i'm going to reconnect it just would like to know what it is for :y :y :y :y

I think you are describing the HBV (heater bypass valve) and the vacume pipe that should connect to it by way of a small pipe coming out of it's top. ;)

If you are confused, look at the second picture in of this thread:

The red arrow is pointing to the vacume outlet/inlet  I mention ;) ;)

no not that one, the one that fits on to the the pipe coming out of the brake servo, to the right of the multi joint on the sme pipe,then comes all the way round back of engine down the side by the oil filler and to the front of the engine to a plastic drum part with two pipes coming out,it has actually been snapped of and the pipe taped up the pipe coming of the brake servo :y :y

thats o.k. think it's different on facelift,but on mine the big black shiny pipe that comes out of the brake servo has a joint with two or three thin pipes on it and just next to these there is one come off but some one has taped the hole up just need to now ifit is important,going to try and fix it next week :y :y :y

Look in the maintenance guides....there is one for the vacuum pipe layout for the V6 which should help you work out what is wrong
