Just a quick question , what should the tick over be on the 2.5 v6?

450 ish with a/c off, about 100rpm higher with a/c on.

Its not low.  Its a 6cyl engine. It doesn't need to scream its 'dangle berries' off to idle ;)

I use to have a mondeo st24 and tick over was 750-800

500rpm sounds right mate :y
Like already said when the air con is switched on the revs should lift about 100rpm..

Note though if yours does not lift to 600rpm when the air con is switched on, it may need regassing :y
