Just seen a 'Knock Sensor' write up in the Common Issues and FAQ section by Marks DTM.

He has posted this warning on the end of the write-up.

5) A crude method for testing your DIS pack is to unplug the knock sensor and run the engine, the retarded timing will result in a higher voltage being required to ignite the fuel and hence a weak DIS pack will often miss fire. Note though, this can be terminal to a failing DIS pack!

If its failing I suppose you have nothing to lose.

Hope this helps.

Cheers for the reply but i've already been advised on that but as the car hasnt been driven for the last 2 mths cos of the misfiring/stuttering/running rough & i've got another dis/coil pack thats been tested & is ok then i'm not that worried if the pack attached dies a death  ::)

Just wondering if anyone cud post a diagram to where i can locate the knock sensor to unplug it as described by 'Marks DTM'  :-?

Bank 1 knock sensor plugs in just above the cable tray that goes across cambelt. Bank 2 plugs in to plastic cable tray across passenger bank, near oil filler
