Hi
Tracking alone is no earthly good.  The front suspension needs proper alignment, most garages cannot do this.  Do a search on alignment, there has been lots of discussion on this forum.

Elite now gone.  Bought an X-Type 4x4.  If there had been an Omega 4x4 I would have bought that instead.  We really liked the Omega, but I wanted 4x4.

Sorry to Hijack this thread  :-[
but did wishbones in March for MOT. Both tyres now worn badly on inner edge.
Just had partworns put on today as temporary fix which gives me about 1 or 2 months to sort it. At least this garage admitted they can't do it!

Can anyone recommend somewhere local to Northampton that is able to set the front geometry?

many thanks
stef

Would advise for "poster" to get wishbones checked.
Might need replacing. Certainly was the answer on mine when i had exactly the same problem.

Was amazing that the inside of the tyres could get so warn down so quickly....not least the fact that I didn't notice. Drove to Austria and back, at speed  ;) ;) with virtually no tread on the first 50mm. Naughty !

Accept WIM may be too far for you to travel but you really need to identify an outfit like these guys. They have the latest kit and do know how to use it. Cost £60 to OOF members. Good luck.

ah, here we are again, very common problem on the omega unfortunately, well not so much a problem as unknowing garages not knowing or caring that the omega shocks are adjustable for camber.

Usual approach applies, rectify any suspension faults, full geometric set up at wheels in motion or the like, THEN fit new tyres.

Problem is your set up is now so far out the tyres will be ireperably worn causing handeling issues until they are replaced. Its possible to replicate the old camber settings by measuring the wheel rim to shock distance prior to dismantling. Or set the camber to a tad short of vertical with a spirit level on level ground, purely to minimise tyre wear. Then drive the car to a set up company.

Max camber if the shocks are just bolted up can approach something like minus 3 degrees. Enough for the tyre sidewall to rub the shock body and destroy a tyre to the wire in 3k.

Best camber setting is WIM's recommended -1°10 minutes. Merely setting up to "in the green" "as factory settings" can give similar poor results, as the tollerances from vx are far too wide.

Hi karlus, chesham in bucks is a bit far i know but it would be worth every penny and time to go to Wheels in motion and see the man on this issue, Tony Bones is his name and this forum cant reccomend him enough. Camber is what needs to be set up or you will ruin every tyre you fit to your car.
