V6 engine mounts
« on: 05 July 2010, 22:57:01 »

Hi guys, a month or so ago i changed both engine mounts and gearbox mount (2 of the 3 were knackard) but ive now got a weird thing where when accelerating (hard) in first the engine and box twists that much that when i go for second gear and let off the throttle (engine moves back to normal position) i get 4th instead, so i now find myself pulling the stick left and back to get second.

Has anyone tried any alternative engine mounts that were successful?

Someone once said about ford granada mounts, which i tried but found them to be softer than standard omega ones.

Thanks in advance  :)

are the engine dampers (Small shocks abs)ok as they should take most of the twist out.

Have the mounts come lose, were they torqued up correctly?

or, just don't put your foot down so hard 'cause its only going to knacker something else like the clutch assy or diff
