Drivers side window not working
« on: 20 July 2010, 21:26:38 »

As above it would not close when pressing the electric window button on the drivers door  - so i had to close it by holding down the key fob lock button and it closed ok. Are there any quick things to check or pointers to find out what is wrong/broken? All others windows work fine

Thanks in advance

Immediate thing to check is the switch.

Shame you're so far, as I have a spare here that you could have used to test...

it's easy enough to pop out. you just need a slim flat blade to lever it out with. there are two spring clips either side that hold it in. be gentle as it is quite easy to damage the door card/switch.  :y
passenger switch has a different plug on it :'(

Ok thanks, would there be any visible signs to look for? I may know someone local who might have one, will call them tomorrow. They say it's going to rain tomorrow anyway so i won't need the window open!

I tend to remove doorcard to remove switch pack in order to avoid damage.

If you are near a member willing to help, try a known good switch before buying one.

once you've got the switch out, it is possible to dismantle it by carefully unclipping the base from the casing. lots of bits to the switch inside, but shoul be obvious if something not right. try a different switch first if not sure about dismantling. :y
