Door Cards
« on: 23 July 2010, 08:47:25 »

After removal of the door cards some many moons ago ive now got a constant rattle on both drive and passenger cards.  I noticed they are glued in at the top, needless to say they need to be glued but with what type.  I dont want to put any thing too strong just in case they need to come off again.  Any help as usual always appreciated ;)

You sure top part is causing the rattle?
Usually rattle comes from the door pin (metal rod on which pin is mounted is rattling and causing the noise.
I've used loctite to glue the top part ( no problem with taking them apart again, just apply a little force)

The top pf the door card has a plastic channel that hooks over the top of clip on the door itself. It's this plastic channel that I've had to glue back on on my car. There's nothing that's glued that would prevent the card coming off again in the future.

Definately top part, when holding the top of the card rattle stops.  When a say rattle more of a rubbing squeek - loctite seems a good idea i will give it a try. Thanks :y

I did try some hot glue - worked for a while but the noise came back - I will try the loctite as suggested. Thanks Andy :y

I've fixed a few of these, facelifts primarily, using 1/4" self tapers with the washer type heads. I've got loads if anyone local needs one doing and I'll take some pics to post at the same time :y
