Expansion tanks
« on: 05 August 2010, 13:46:01 »

I've just been told by the local dealer that Vauxhall no longer manufacture the expansion tank that I need to solve the coolant warning I have on my 2002 2.6V6, the only available source of supply being a pattern part manufacturer. Can it really be that Vauxhall no longer support spares for a 8 year old car and can anyone vouch for the quality of the alternative. Thanks in anticipation Keith.

It appears to be part number 90500223 if you want to try blagging the dealer that way

Andyc identified 77 of these items at Vauxhall. Local dealer backpeddled and 1 now on order. So problem solved. Thanks folks this forum is brilliant.

They were a little cagey but said they had initially confused the request with the level sensor which was unavailable separately. They are sourcing the part through a third party but it is a genuine Vauxhall part from another Vauxhall dealer.

The exact result I am sure we all expected.

Why Oh Why do dealers walk away from so many sales  :-/

And what would we do without Andy  :y
