dirty interior :(
« on: 09 August 2010, 01:14:49 »

ok, i dont know what the previous owner for my car did, but there's this sticky sort of dirt stuck all around the gear lever, i mean on all that black place and even under the handbrake, oh and also on the the buttons surrounding the stereo.

Its very irritating because its very sticky !!
plus it looks very ugly !!

Ive tried a little to remove it, but nothing works, except for if I start scratching it with my finger nails, lol

Actually I read lemon juice removes dirt somewhere but that didnt work, apart from that havent tried using chemicals for I am scared it might remove the paint or something.

Any suggestions on what should I do ??

I wish I could upload some pictures of it, but i dont know how to :(

Lemon juice is worth a try, put some on a cloth to make it damp and try wiping obey the surface to clean it a few times.

Might be that some one has spilt a can of coke, as it dries that gets sticky

you'll probably find this isn't dirt, its the rubber coating that VX decided to coat the interior with. looks like a greasey horrible finish as soon as its worn to any degree.

There is only one thing that will work with this (it can be dirt not a rubber coating).
Use standard home window cleaner but be very careful cause it is quite agressive.
Clean with it then after with  rag dipped in water to remove the cleaning agent.
Repeat if neccessary.

Standard window cleaner shampoo in spray bottle (ajax, vanish, brill or whatever manufacturer).

i've found a little vinegar in warm water with a soft toothbrush is ideal for the nooks and crannies ...it always comes up a treat
