Facelift Centre Console Switches
« on: 13 August 2010, 22:00:38 »

Is it possible to remove the blank switches on my centre console and fit actual switches without wiring them up.
In particular the heated seat switches passenger and driver, rear blind switch etc.
I just think this might improve the current blandness of the console???

Why oh why was there never a V8 Omega????
Such a missed oppurtunity.
Look forward to the Cadillac ATS & ATS-V. Maybe a re-badged one will replace the Miggy as a RWD runner?

Dont see why not, pretty sure it should be wired too, should you want 'retro' fit heat pads in the seats and make them work

Yes, all the switches can be fitted.
The rear blind switch will light up even if the blind isn't fitted. But I'm not sure about the TC ad alarm switch. The heated seat lights won't light up either unless you fit velour from a CD spec vehicle, new seats and the switches are all that's needed.

Might sound like a very daft question Josh, but would this also be the case with an Estate, which obviously wont have a rear blind, no mater what spec?

And yeah, it is a genuine question.  ;D

 ;D that's a good question, I'm not sure.
I have fitted the switch to an estate, my local VX service department is awful, so I took my estate there with rear blind switch fitted and told them I was having problems with my rear blind and asked if they could have a look at it. 45 mins later they told me they couldn't find anything wrong with it, and didn't know why it wasn't working.
I soon explained to them their error and made a point by talking to the manager. The parts dept there is very very good, and all staff are great...except the service department.
I didn't have the lights on when I drove there, but when I get the estate back from the bodyshop I'll put the switch in and see what happens.
