hi guys
can anyone tell me whether steering wheels are different fittings for different years??, also would i be able to fit one with radio controls and possibly rewire the loom to get them working?? :-?

at least 3 different types that I know of, in different colours as well.

1st type is non stereo control version, 2 types of air bags available for this one, one with the raised vaux logo, the other with a round vaux logo badge.

2nd type is for stereo controls, you would need the steering wheel boss and all wiring associated, not really worth the hassle as you will disturb your airbag.

3rd type is the facelift type, airbag more squared in shape and had chrome griffin badge on airbag. all have stereo controls.

does this mean that all steering wheels fit all cars or are they different fittings for different cars  and different years  :-/
want to change the one on my 3.2 estate 02 plate which hasnt got radio controls and is fubared, can get one off a donor car complete with radio controls loom etc but it is on a 98 plate  :-/

all wheels will fit all cars  :y. There were recently pictures here of an ex-plod facelift car with a prefacelift wheel - apparently a common plod fitment  :-/  :-/

yeah will physically fit ok, not sure if the airbag wiring connectors are the same on them all tho, never tried a conversion.

yup tell me about plod spec  :'( really dont know why they do it  :o unless its just to mess the people about who buy their cast offs  >:(
soon might be able to beat the 3 carrier bags of additional wiring that i am ripping out  ::) the only wiring i would like to keep is the front blue lights in the grill,  get them working to get them bmw drivers out of my way  ;D ;D :y
