Rubbish washer jets
« on: 24 October 2010, 17:41:03 »

Hello,

my washer reservoir has a small leak, which due to the car being stood for a few days ended up in a completely empty reservoir.

I filled it back up today, and activated the washers. It now takes ages for any fluid to come out, and when it does it's a pathetic little squirt. It was fine before it went empty so I can't imagine it's blocked. Does anyone know what the problem could be? Thanks

There is a small filter that sits in the top of the water reservoir. It does get filled up with crud so worth just pulling out /giving a clean and refitting.

I traced the problems with mine by splitting the fead pipe at the passenger side wing where there is a connecter..seeing if eater flows through there first..if so blockage is "up stream"possible the bonnet jets.If no or little flow "down stream" from ther problem with reservoir or pipework by bumper.

use a good quality screen wash too, it helps prevent the slime build up inside the bottle ...... which is what was blocking the suction filter/strainer.  :y :y

I always use screen wash, on the strong side! I'll try the filter and see what happens! Thanks all!

Failing that, a new pattern pump is quite cheap.  :y

Well I can here the pump spinning, and the fluid comes out but only manages 2-3 inches now, I'll check the hose and the filter! Thanks

Cleaning the slime from the filter is often enough, but the pumps don't last forever.  ;) ;)
