Hi broken down at spilsby engine running fine then sounded  just like a old disel,, have had the top off every thing looks ok plugs out, engine light is on eml one, sound is coming from left side at back, have no power and engine will only run for 3min then shut off any one know what it could be, had to leave car there and get lift home, any help will do thanks

just got home been getting home since 5pm and just got back, did paper clip there and list is the lot all every thing is on flashes, was only going at 20mph and engine was fine then no bang or enthing just engine changed every thing looks fine but this loud banging coming from left side of engine at rear next to dispack, was going to limp home but it would not move far so its at my sisters house...

You've been having some coolant problems lately haven't you mate? I'm afraid going by what you describe, it doesn't sound too good. First thing to do in the morning is check all the fluid levels & give the engine a good looking over to see if there are any clues there. FFS don't start the engine again until you have a better idea what has happened though!

thanksPhilrich, water is on line were was put, oil is all there no leak did loads before got lift home and im in Rotherham now, what could be on right side at back of engine cames are moving fine pistons have no slack plugs fine, every thing looks fine think knock sensor has blocked out the ecu  so all fault come up, unc had no idear as well, just left there house got 100yard down road and pushed it back.. just gose tap tap-tap in 3's well bang bang- bang

Anything I say is only conjecture mate, but I would be checking the timing belt hadn't slipped. It could be the noise you're hearing is a valve or two hitting the piston on No. 4 pot if it's at the back, but as said, only could be! :-/

tryed getting a pick up, rac wanted £197 for call out, AA are over run, wrights at boston wanted £310, i dont have that money only get paid on tuesday and most can do is £120 on that day any way is there any one that can do it for £120 spilsby to Rotherham any one thanks, if could just get it home can take the engine apart and find out whats up. please PM if any one can thanks

uncle has had garage round this morning and it the little end has gone well going, time fine, wonts £500 to fix (NNNNNNOOOO) making an account with green flag soon and get them to pick me up with it next week, mot runs out on tuesday so going to be off road for a while
