Wheel bearing
« on: 30 December 2010, 20:43:35 »

Hello Omega buddies,

I've a problem, I need to look at the left side wheel bearing, but the top bolt on the caliper mounting is being a bitch....I've ruined 4 x 18mm sockets trying to get the bugger out, it just won't budge.....It's now starting to round off can anyone suggest anything.

Also does anyone know the size socket I will need to tackle the main bolt on the hub. I'd like to thank you in advance..Happy New Year to all on the Forum.

the 18mm is thight, and threadlocked. Use a hex socket, not the crappy 12 point ones.

Can't remember is hub is 32 or 34mm. Former I believe...

Re calliper mount bolt, I find it helps to turn the steering outboard, then an extention bar of any sort can fit over your spanner/ ratchet or whatever without the wheel arch getting in the way.

And as said, if its starting to round, use a 6 sided socket socket, the 12 sided ones will kill the bolt head, and yes they are rather stiff.also make sure it's turned the right way as it's from the back, if you see what I mean.. :-X
