In a word, no! They were cheap casts and crack with continual heating and cooling cycles. Either find an uncracked one from a breaker or take it off and get it tig welded.

Nothing wrong with manifold on mine of 151k miles, nor Father T's of 110k miles.

Like I said on the other thread (sorry not had chance to reply to your PM) But that gasket does not look multi layer. When did a 2.2 HG the exhaust manifold gasket was multi-layer, wonder if its had work done on it, and its not been re-fitted correctly / torqued up?

The cylinder gasket does not need to be multi layer, but advice I had was to re-use the exhaust one....

As Welung says it's a common problem on some 2.2 manifolds. Mine went in the same place, replaced with a new one. Can be difficult to weld, I was told. Got mine off ebay, gen GM manifold complete with muti layer gasket, studs and nuts.

when welding cast, you need to get the whole area HOT otherwise as it all cools down you often end up with a nice new crack along side the weld. As far as TIG welding, I'm not sure  :-/ I've always used a MMA/stick set when welding cast
