Code 0571
« on: 14 January 2011, 19:32:41 »

Hi Everyone.
Got a error light before which gave a code 0571.
Mark DTM's guide says this is a brake switch malfunction.
Both boot mounted brake lights aren't working, but the high level one is.
Car is an auto and I can still move from "Park" to select gears OK.
Anyone had this before? (I'm sure they have) and a possible solution.
Cheers.
John

Cruise or no cruise? May be worthwhile trying to source a suitable brake switch from a breaker on here. I don't have any brake switches at the moment though, sorry.

Sorry. Forgot to mention I don't have cruise control.
Where is the brake switch or is that a daft question 'cos it's on the pedal. Easy to get at ?
Would that be why both brake lights aren't working? Strange that the high level one is working though.
Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Replaced both bulbs today and now ok.
Tail light isn't working now . . . Aargh.
I think I've got a dirty light assembly on rear offside. Might be an idea to check the towbar wiring for faults or bad contacts.
Thanks
