will a Centre exhaust box from estate fit saloon
« on: 29 January 2011, 09:08:55 »

Hi can anyone tell me if this box from a N reg estate will fit a S reg saloon?  I bought it to go on my estate which is now off the road but my saloon has now started blowing on the same box same side.  Will it be too short to long or just not fit?

Eternal who I got it from. show this box as a saloon but the embossed (#17235) they say is for the estate.  Both are 2.5 V6 petrol, auto's.

Thanks for the help.

Yes mate, mid boxes are the same assuming same sort of engine i.e. 2.0 to 2.0 or v6 to v6, Backbox is basically the same but the exhaust output is longer on an estate

Not sure it will tbh, pic shows my new exhaust for my old 3.2 saloon. The mid section fitted in the silencer is from a saloon obviously, the other mid section is for an estate delivered in error. It did NOT fit a saloon.

If they are interchangeable then my parts man told me the wrong info about the non fitting mid section being from an estate.......????

On Eternalcars website they show the "clam shell" type silencer on all their saloon centre sections and the old type cylindrical type silencer for the estate centre sections and having driven Omegas with both types of silencers the "clam shell" type have always seemed to be quieter than the "cylinder" type.

Now as my present exhaust is nearing the end of its life as the centre boxes and the rear box all have loose baffles in them what do i do?  buy another exhaust with "cylinder" type centre boxes which are never as quiet as the original GM system or go for the saloon centre sections from Eternalcar and graft the "clam shell" silencers to my existing system as the pipe work is still in good nick ?
