Think mine needs replaced as the lever is at the top of its travel

Replace rear shoes first. Yes they do strech,but not that much,sounds like shoes gone.

I changed mine on my old mfl and iirc it wasn't too expensive.
Need to remove the shields underneath and a ratchet spanner would be handy
