Blower motor problem

I am in the car just now,Turned the ignition off and noticed the heaters still blowing through the. Vents. Tried the reset and Still the same.i pulled the fuse out nuber 33 and the blower motor stoped. Now when put the fuse back in with ignition off the heater blower still goes very slight as if on at number 1 but when i put on ignition and turn on the heater blower it is very slight as if its on numbr 1 if i put it up to any other heater speed number to 9 it stays tye same,any ideas wats broke?Could it be the resistor on the blower ?

you say you have tried reset, ignition to position 2 auto and off pressed together for 3-5 secs or until you hear servos start ?
the only thing that causes the heater to work with the ignition off is if auto is pressed then you get  the heater to work supplying the cabin with the residual heat left in the car- this will turn off when the engine drops to a certain temp or you press off
if your fan is not operating manually on the buttons with auto off  i would say your resistor has gone which in turn can cause a lot of funny things to happen with climate but wouldnt have thought it would cause an "overun" of the heater with ignition off

Has your scuttle drain blocked and got the blower and its' speed controller damp?I would try having a look up behind the glove box. Make sure the connections to the speed controller are dry. If sop, might be you need a new speed controller module.

hi the scuttle isnt blocked, i checked this about a month ago when replacing  the pollen filter, i will take the motor and controller out today. if the dontroller is broke will i be able to physically see it or will i have to get another one and try it ?

I wouldn't take the whole motor out. It's tricky to get to and it sounds like the motor is working OK. The controller is a sealed electronic module that sits in the ducting at the outlet of the fan (for cooling).

Follow the sires to the fan motor and they will lead you to it. It has about a 6 pin electrical connector if memory serves.

Not much you can easily do to test it, so I would swap it with one from a breaker and see if it cures the problem.

Be very careful when you remove the resistor(avaiable on fleebay) I broke both plastic  retaining clips on my previous omega and this is a major problem it was very cold when I did mine but take care

yip took it out today, does anyone know how i can test to see if the control switch is sending the right resistance to the control unit, to make sure its the control unit and not the switch ? can i measure the resistance along 2 wires goin into control unit from behind dash ?

Not a great deal you cna do to test it.

You could pop the little cover off that you can see in the pic and check the state of the internals.

I have managed to get them working again with some alcohol and a small paint brush

might try that, it does work intermittantly but if i set the blower to 9 it delays a few mins then it goes to 9, then if i set it to ay 2 it goes reduces its speed after a few mins

There are some basic electronics internaly that control the speed, the feedback resistors which are part of this do some odd thinsg when they have contaminants around them (e.g. scum etc from water)
