help my omega gearbox

 :-X Hi everyone new on today and in need of some help
 My 2001 2.5 td auto omega gearbox is making a loud squealing noise when on tick-over it is much better when on the move and dose go in all gears sounds a bit taperty as well ? :-/
I do have a spare gearbox but it is untested so do not want to jump to change it if I can avoid it.
Any help on it would be much appreciated.  :y

Sure it`s the gearbox and not the aux belt tensioner

yes defo the gearbox i looked on youtube and there was a vidio of some ones v6 doing the same thing [smiley=sad.gif]

hi i am in west sleekburn choppington have had a look at car on a ramp over weekend and it looks the fly wheel is where it is coming from am at work until tomorrow so will pull the box off thursday or friday depending on the weather.
was told the flywheel can brake up on as it is so thin apparently quite common on the bmw 525

hi every one took off gearbox and the triangular plate attached to the fly wheel was as i thought the problem 2 of the lugs had snaped off ( amazing it was still running let alone get me back 156 mls from scotland)
not a bad job only took a day's work :-X.
i can hear a squeak from one of the front pullys now LOL i will track which one next week as it is getting some paint done this week.
if i can help any one just ask
