I'd use anything that works.

In the past, I've used silkaflex, double sided tape, evostick etc etc.

Once the doorcard is on, that tends to help ensure that it stays in place

Try Duck Tape that sticks like pop to a wooly blanket ;)

Duct (Gaffer) tape is what I usually use, cut into strips to seal all the way around the membrane... I guess this is still acceptable to use, what with newer cars having impact sensors in the doors nowadays?

I would use double sided carpet tape on the bits that need it but if you are reusing the same membrane or even using new stuff there is usually enough sticky adhesive left behind to re attach. The bits that are a little week just use the double sided tape.

I have found that careful use of a hair drier on the membrane makes it stick perfectly (if not damaged), used this method on my car and my wife's Vectra.  Just be very careful not to overheat and melt it.
