headlight reflector cleaning on migs?
« on: 16 March 2011, 15:05:58 »

Was wandering, is it possible to clean the mirror reflectors on the migs, and what to use to do it?
Obviously the light should be disassembled like in the adjuster replacing guide but I couldn't find anything on the forum relating to reflector cleaning

I wouldn't try... The reflective film comes off very easily ;)

I know that is why I want some advice from someone who has done it before trying anything myself

The most you would be able to do is wipe them gently with some soap and cooton wool to remove any dirt then wipe them dry with clean cotton wool.
If you rub with anything stronger you will remove the chrome reflector.

Only the full beam uses the reflector, the rest is for show as the dipped beam is formed by the lense setup....this is very cleanable!

The actual glass lense does get mucky, I removed it whilst changing the adjusters (to alloy ones) and cleaned it with glass cleaner.

So its a case of following the adjuster fitting instructions, unscrewing the lense assembly from the headlight, popping the lense out, cleaning it and re-fitting.
