management light problem
« on: 30 March 2011, 16:49:16 »

Hi everyone,

I have an 1996 (N reg) Omega 2.5 V6 with about 110,000 miles on the clock. Lately when driving, and even more bizzarely even when I've been stationary once with the engine obviously running, my engine management light will come on for a brief period and then go off again. This happens intermittently, but frequently in a relatively short journey.

I've been trying to monitor when this happens and I think its when I reach the 2000 rpm stage around 30 mph.

The engine doesn't do anything, i.e. no strange sounds or acting peculiar, but its worrying me as this should not be coming on and off.

My mate and I have changed the lambda sensors some time ago and we changed the airflow meter as well as we took my car to a garage and instead of paying them to do it, we did it ourselves and the car ran very smoothly for the last 18 months or so.

Before I take the car to a garage to ask them to plug into the ECU to find out if there any fault codes recorded, I wondered if anyone had a simple answer to this problem please.

Your thoughts and suggestions would be very welcome.

Thanks. Paul  :-[

Replies relevant to the initially resurrected dusty old thread have been deleted as not relevant to the OP's question.

Will move this thread to the correct section to get a more informed reply.   :y

Paul - as advised, we really need the codes read in order to advise you as best as possible.  Please see the links in the previous post.   :y
