Water temp gauge problem
« on: 05 April 2011, 11:41:27 »

I have this Omega B 2.5TD (BMW Engine) and the water temp gauge in the instrument panel seems to have lost its mind. It reports 100C.

I have installed a external water temp sensor that reports 78C under normal driving and 82-85C under hard driving.

As my gauge starts at 80C, is this the correct gauge for my car ? (My car is kind of modified, with a engine from a E36 325 TDS)

My thermostat is 80C and I suppose it would be normal for a diesel car to have a gauge maybe starting at 70C ?

That would suggest to me than that the BMW sensor & Vauxhall dash have trouble talking to each other. Does a sensor intended for a Vaux fit your engine? If so I'd start with a new sensor rom Vauxhall.

I could start off with that.

Bah, I bought this car because of a friend works at BMW. Cheap parts.

Orginal GM from Vauxhall (Opel) here costs £90.
3rd party is £40.

Thanks for quick reply! :)
