Air con question
« on: 16 April 2011, 09:44:07 »

Just had my aircon regassed and due to the fact that there was nothing in the system, a dye was added to check for leaks. After driving around for about a week/250 miles its been looked at by out local mech and it seems the leak is from the compressor itself and I have been advised a new one. The price of a new one seems to be about £500 from Vx direct. I have looked at the site on the aircon thread for alternatives, but considering they are about £260 + new ancillary components (90) + regas (60), there seems little point in getting a non Vx part.

Any advice re: sourcing a compressor cheaper or other cost effective methods. Im not too keen on ebay and 2nd hand parts due to reliability issues.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Is the cost for the above TC part for a new one or a refurbed one? If refurbed then would it not make more sense to go for a brand new OE item. Or am I being completely stupid?

If you want to take a chance on a used one, ive got one you can have for £25 + postage - or you could collect, depending where in the country you are. ;)
