Bike rack advice needed
« on: 03 April 2011, 15:21:34 »

Can anyone recommend a high-level bike rack that will fit on the tailgate of my MV6 estate? A lot of the ones I've looked at say they're not suitable for vehicles with spoilers.

I've already got 4 bikes on the roof(! :o) and need to get a 5th on the car somewhere!

The car hasn't got a tow bar and I don't want to use a carrier that's going to obscure the number plate 'coz I'll have to get a lighting board then.

Any suggestions anyone?

I had same problem ,but i had a towbar fitted so i had the tow bar type, because i have a roof box.
Think the only way is to get the bolt on type as on the campers
Or change the tailgate withe no spoiler
Or get extra wide bars for the roof as i have for my ladders  :y

Good question..but I've used (maxx rack) tow bar rack for about ten years with 4 bikes up and doesn't seem to make the handling too awful.

going back to the OP the best strap on (ooh er) racks I've seen are by Pendle, I don't know how these will work with a spoiler though
