Potential MV6 or Elite owner
« on: 23 May 2011, 20:29:15 »

Hi all. I'm currently in the market for an elite or mv6.  I've been doing a fair amount of research and find conflicting info.  So on the face of it, can anyone tell me, definitely, the following;

Do all elites and mv6's have sunroofs?

SATNAV: are they the monochrome type like in the pre-face or colour?

Is it correct that mv6's have lower and stiffer suspension?

What about Xenons?

Rear blinds?

Sorry bout this but as you prob know various, other non omega sights have varying right or wrong info!

I've had vxls for a long time now, my current being a vec c 2.0 turbo and I love big rear drive motors so thats the way it's going.
I used to have 2.6 Gsi vec and was wondering would an omega with the same engine feel a little underpowered?
Performance wise is their much between the 3.0 and 3.2?

Lastly (honest) the autobox's; do the torque converters lock up in 3rd and 4th?

Thanks guys :y

Thanks for that!

As for age; not entirely sure as I don't really wana be paying the higher rate of RFL, but having said that I would get an 02/03 if it was right if u know what I mean?  As for my budget; again dependant.  Max of around 3k but there's alot out there from 1k for a 2000 to 3k for a late 02/03, but they seem thin on the ground.

Anything specific I should be looking for on the 'box side of it?  Is it a GM box or borg warner or something like that>

Main thing on the box is to check it changes smoothly and that the indicator lights don't all light up as you're shifting between positions.

There are some lovely cars about at the moment and it's a buyers market... I've just stuck my saloon onto Autotrader to see if I can shift it as I have a replacement but I know it's worth a lot more in parts ::)

Mileage isn't an issue but you do need to check on the service history, particularly cam belt kit change :y

Have a look through the guides and it'll give you an idea of what to check on :y :y

A quicky as to sunroof - not all models canme with one as standard.

Beware ex-police vehicles as they are 'poverty' spec with no sunroof, generally cloth seats, wind rear windows and other similar differences.  They can and do still show as Elite or MV6 on the V5 logbook but can also be named as Omega V6 specials.

Good luck on your search.  Good ones are still out there....    :y
