looks like a major probelm

hi all
have a 2.6 auto
when i start it up the trancion control light and the spanner light comes on and i cant seem to rev the car
any ieas what can be causing this

Sounds like you need to do the "pedal trick" and report what codes are stored.

At a guess, I'd say a problem with the drive-by-wire throttle but the codes will confirm this.

Thanks for the reply
I checked the wire it was a bit loose ( silly me ) should have checked it first
However it's started and revving ok but the spanner light us still on
I've got these codes
0120
0220
1700
And I'm getting 0189 on my phones adapter but not sure if it can be trusted

0189 doesn't look like a valid code..

The others relate to the DBW throttle control system so probably down to that loose connector and the 1700 is a service request from the auto.. transmission. May well have been due to the DBW throttle issue.

Does it drive normally now? It may take a few starts for the light to extinguish if the problems have now been cleared.

Might be worth getting it cleared and see if any come back.. or check for codes again after it's been used for a while.

Unfortunately the pedal trick gives no way of knowing if the faults are present or stored.
