Which air filter?
« on: 15 June 2011, 17:39:06 »

Shopping around for an air filter shows an amazing variety of prices for what appears to be the same thing every time!

For example: Eurocarparts lists a Bosch item (Part No.: 502720160) and one by Guttmann (Part No.: 502720161). The prices are £11.04 and £5.16 respectively.

I don't mind paying twice the price if I'm getting twice the product! But I an't paying just for a badge!

Any reasons why I shouldn't save nearly six quid and buy the cheaper one?

Genuine VX is the best. Cheap ones tend to have a lot less surface area. If you get a trade club card VX are reasonably priced as well - just over a tenner iirc. :y

I should have taken a picture of the Cooper filter removed from a member's car last weekend... I reckon it probably had half the surface area of a genuine one :o
