ABS Light ON
« on: 10 July 2011, 20:19:02 »

I know that on every page there is an ABS but none as far as i have searched seemed like mine(can't say i searched them all :P )
So my abs light came on for the first time yesterday as i was cruising at 100km/h. i stopped the car after 10km then started again but the light was still on for 3-400m then it went off. when i reached the cruising speed again the light came on again. and so on.. i the citi i never went over 60km/h and the light didn't came on. there is no certain high speed at wich it lights up because i went as far as 180km/h and it didn't came up.. so there is a certain mood that it has :). everything in the dash works. as a side note yesterday was the first day that the outside temp reached 38 degrees celsius.

maybe a dodgy ABS sensor ......  :-/ :-/ or perhaps dirty reluctor rings that the sensors look at.  :-/ :-/
A proper code reader will be able to give yo a definite answer though.  :y

When ever a manual or TechII refers to left or right, it means if you are sat in the car, so it doesn't matter which side of the car the steering wheel is on.  :y  :y  :y

me too :P.. i have a bad experience with steering rods left or right :P. so now whenever i go to a parts shop i tell the seller on drivers side or passenger side. this way f it makes a mistake its his fault not mine and he replaces the wrong part. better to be safe ;). is there any chance it could be fine and full of dirt? or it just needs replaceing?

if you disconnect the sensor and check its resistance with an ohm meter against the other side, they should be the same :y

so i'll check the left one first then the right one.. if they are the same they must be dirty right? there is a verry small leak from the diff where the right drive shaft enters and i supose that that is what is causing this.. will keep my fingers crossed

just checked the specs and the tolerance is 500-3000 ohms but both sensors should be around the same amount
