If you're talking about the rod between the bottom of the gearstick and the gearbox then all the ones I've seen are metal with pivot pins and nylon bushes at each end.

this one is from an astra gte but shows the metal bar across the top of the linkage. on later vx's the metal bar was replaced for a plastic item that weakens over time. i wondered if the omega v6 had a metal rod or a plastic one:

I'm fairly sure the whole linkage is steel and pretty sturdy too.

I am still struggling to understand the comparison. Vectras are wrong wheel drive with 'F' series gearboxes. They use a pair of complex linkages to lift and twist the gear selector rod that pokes out of the box.

Omegas are rear wheel drive. They use R25/R28 gearboxes. An  actuator rod pokes out of the back of the box and a short steel tube provides a direct link to the base of the gear lever.

There might be some bits of plastic in the gear lever but the Omega definitely doesn't use the same over-stressed piece of plastic on the base of the gear lever that 1980's Astras did :y
